It is the case that many Quebecers take their history very seriously, and fight to preserve their identity through language, culture, and economical solidarity. However, Quebec’s youth seem more and more indifferent when asked about questions of sovereignty or language issues. The influence of other cultures, whether it be the first nations, the rest of Canada, immigrant communities or our neighbors to the south, has created some sort of identity crisis among Quebecers. While a lot of people are divided on this issue, I think Quebec’s francophone heritage is an important part of its history, but hardly the whole picture.
